Read about your creative path, ideas and their implementation in our exclusive interview.
When I talk about my creative path, every time I think about the fact that I was very lucky to know from the very beginning what I want to do and who I want to become.
From the very childhood I could not tear myself away from paints, pencils and everything with which one could draw. I drew postcards for dad or mom when they came from business trips, drew homework at school, drew anytime, anywhere.
Further, by the standard, there was an art school, where I already got acquainted with the basics of composition, color, painting, drawing and art history. After that I was offered to continue my studies there, only in the direction of "Design". Actually, like this, in the 8th grade, I got acquainted with the world of design and realized that I could never part with it again.
I drew postcards for dad or mom when they came from business trips, drew homework at school, drew anytime, anywhere ...
Confidently moving towards my goal, having passed all the exams, I entered the Institute of Architecture and Design in my native city of Barnaul and studied there for 4 years in the direction of “Graphic Design”. As always happens after university, graduated, full of energy and content with yourself, you are looking for a job to realize and monetize your talent. At this stage, many young designers face difficulties: lack of experience and technical knowledge about some of the processes. But even then life had already prepared a way for me) I was almost immediately invited to work as a leading designer for a glossy magazine. Of course, I could not refuse such an offer. I worked in the magazine for about 3 years, while simultaneously teaching students at Altai State University. Yes, yes, during this time I still managed to get a job as a computer graphics teacher and began to transfer my experience, which I received on the go, to other people.
Now my teaching experience is almost 6 years, which, of course, gives me bonuses in professional development. And also the colossal experience of working in the magazine with various brands and companies, processes, photo shoots, brainstorming sessions and the layout of the publication itself became a good professional foundation for me, on which I still firmly stand.
Everyone is probably more interested in learning about the idea with T-shirts and how the drawings appear, so I propose to finish with the introductory part of my biography) And go on to how I ended up in Moscow, why exactly the coffee theme and what inspires me.
Moving to Moscow is almost a story from a movie, where a man from the capital comes for a young girl, real and strong love happens, they get married and leave together ...
Moving to Moscow is almost a story from a film, where a man from the capital comes for a young girl, real and strong love happens, they get married and leave together. That's how it happened to me, that's how I ended up here. And what is there to hide, Moscow is a magnificent, beautiful, lively and amazing city. Here you want to live, work, develop and become better.
The idea for T-shirts and coffee illustrations didn't come up right away. Yes, it should be noted that my husband is a professional coffee maker. From him I learned that coffee is not only a sweet "raff" from my favorite coffee shop, but also many, many interesting and unusual things: different brewing methods, different tastes, different countries, different beans, and so on. Am I good with coffee? Not. I just can already objectively say that it is "tasty", and this is not, but no more)
Not finding strong guys who have already tried to do coffee-themed merchandise, I thought: "Why not?" - and sat down at the first illustration ...
So that's the idea. For a person who is closely involved in design and advertising, it is no secret that any professional community is very fond of various merch. In general, this popular and modern word "merch" can now be heard everywhere. This is a person's way to tell others about himself without words, a way to feel like a part of his professional world, a way to express love for his work. Not finding strong guys who have already tried to do coffee-themed merchandise, I thought: "Why not?" - and sat down at the first illustration.
As I remember, the first was Chemex) Probably because I like it the most. It is graceful, beautiful, regular in shape, glass - everything that attracts a person of art so much. After that, feeling the style of the illustrations, I continued working on other devices that you can see on our T-shirts.
Of course, we named the company with our family name: “Alexeenko”. Because, first of all, my inspiration is my husband, for whom coffee is a huge part of his life. And the second huge part is, of course, me)))
Having become acquainted with the culture and the world of coffee, I, of course, now treat it differently than before.
All illustrations are strictly corrected. It is very important for us to convey not only a beautiful picture, but also a technically correct one, so that no forms and processes are distorted. After all, we work for a very narrow target audience of professionals for whom such things are very important. Therefore, while working on each illustration, there is a long process: first, a sketch appears on paper, then it undergoes correction, then it is transferred into electronic form in special programs and only then transferred to T-shirts.
Having become acquainted with the culture and the world of coffee, I, of course, now treat it differently than before. With more love, understanding and awe. With a great desire to bring something interesting into this world and share your talent with it.
Plans for the future, as always, are colossal: to conquer the world)) I am open to ideas, joint projects and collaborations with someone. As for T-shirts, we also have plans) I will not reveal all the cards, but I will say that soon you will be able to please yourself not only with T-shirts, but also with interior items that will fit into it very successfully and originally.
For me “Alexeenko” is not just a company. This is a little of my inner world, a little of my spouse's and the huge world of coffee that inspires us all. And I cannot but note that it is a great pleasure to be involved in this friendly, tasty and warm world, which is watching my work with such great interest)
