Importers and retailers record the first signs of impending shortages — the range of imported products are narrowing in the stores. Experts recommend to introduce legislatively the concept of «crucial import». In the situation at the foreign exchange market, the importers would like to know anything to predict their future activities.
Now in order to stabilize the foreign exchange market it’s nesessary to reduce the importation of goods of non-critical import, — said Sergei Pelikh , Professor of Economics at the Academy of enterprise management under the President of Belarus. Besides he stressed that such measures are not inconsistent with WTO requirements.
Professor named a number of consumer goods of critical import that Belarus buys and will do the same in the future. These are some types of foodstuffs, including tea, coffee, spices, citrus and other commodities. Let the present and other import goods be represented for the customer. But then it must be entered under one hundred percent import duty, and under such conditions it must be competed with domestic goods.
