Although Russian is still considered to be «tea» nation, in recent years in the Russian market of hot drinks seen major structural changes. Thus, in the period from 2002 to 2006, coffee sales in Russia grew steadily and in 2006 they reached 130 thousand tons of in-kind and $ 2.5 billion in value, thus overtaking tea market for 200 million dollars. Compared to 2005 the market grew by 18% in value and 8% in volume. Thus, the growth of the coffee market in value terms is well ahead of market growth in physical terms. If in-kind market uniformly adds about 8% a year, in value terms the market growth 20-25% annually. The maximum rate of growth of the market in value terms was recorded in 2003 and amounted to 27%. And if we compare the development of the market of tea and coffee market, since 1991, we can conclude that the coffee market is developing much more dynamically. Apparently, the tea market in the volume are unlikely to be close to that of 1991’s popularity of tea every year declining, especially among the younger population of Russia, which considers the tea boring drink. What can be said about coffee: in the period since 1991 in physical volume of the market grew by almost 4 times and still has substantial growth potential. And if the tea has always been available to drink, and income growth has virtually no effect on the physical volume of the market, in the case of coffee, this trend is one of the main factors contributing to the physical and monetary growth in the market.
