The recent initiative of the Association of Retail Companies (ACORT) to freeze for two months prices for socially important goods caused a need to clarify how this initiative to be carried out in respect of tea included in the list of such goods. After all, black tea is presented in a variety of price ranges and types of packaging, and it is clear that it is unlikely the entire category could be frozen .
Given the fact that each retail chain determines the composition of the food basket with frozen prices, based on the list of socially important food products (by Russian Government Resolution № 530 of July 15, 2010), Coffeetea.ru asked representatives of the largest retail chains to clarify on what basis they make decisions within the framework of supported initiative by them when the prices of black tea are “frozen”
Received official responses from the retailed chains confirm the initial assumption of suppliers and manufacturers of tea that black tea of the medium and high price category (including tea bags and disposable brewing pyramids) remains outside ACORT initiatives.
